Cardinal Flower, Lobelia cardinalis

A favorite in the native garden because of its attraction for hummingbirds and butterlies, cardinal flower also provides a bold and beautiful stroke of red in the garden. Likes a moist environment, but is very tolerant of differing conditions. The tiny seeds are almost like pollen, but spread this biennial in little colonies around the plant.
