Purple Coneflower, Echinacea purpurea
Not only is the purple coneflower grown for
its ornamental value, but it is widely used as an herbal remedy. Its showy,
daisy-like, purple coneflowers bloom all summer. Beautiful in a meadow, native
plant garden, or naturalized area. Well-adapted to many conditions. Grow in
average, dry to medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Best in
full sun. Will self-seed to form small colonies around plant. Birds love to
help with the seeding by voraciously attacking the seeds when they are ripe!
