Purslane is a succulent annual often considered a weed. It thrives in poor soil, so is often found growing in sidewalk and driveway cracks in the heat of summer. This “weed” is rich in omega-3 fatty acid, and has many healing properties. It can be eaten as a cooked vegetable, with a taste reminiscent of Oriental dishes.
