Rattlesnake Master, Eryngium yuccifolium

This unusual plant can grow to 5' tall. Its bluish-green leaves are long with stiff teeth along the margins. Flowers are grey-white prickly balls about 1" across. These prickly orbs contain numerous small white flowers individually surrounded by prickly bracts. The flowers give off a dubious sweet scent in bright sunlight. This strange and wonderful plant is the sole host of the rare Papaipema erynggii, the Rattlesnake Master Borer Moth. 50 seeds/2.50, 1/2 oz./10.00.
